Abstract Format

  • Before writing your abstract and start the submission, read the Instructions and Guidelines!
  • Prepare your abstract in a Microsoft Word document.
  • Abstract (including Title, Authors, Affiliation, and Financial Support Information) should NOT exceed 3000 characters (including spaces).
  • Abstract should be divided in Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion.

Abstract Presentation

The first author of the abstract must be responsible for the submission and presentation. If the first author is unable to present or submit, the second author or the adviser can submit or present.

Title and Authors + Affiliation

  • Title should be brief and clearly indicate the content of the abstract and should NOT exceed 200 characters (including spaces).
  • Capitalize only the Initial Letters. Pay attention to the spelling of scientific and chemical names.
  • Inform the authors and affiliations just after the title using the format: Surname followed by Name Initials, separate each author by comma. There is a limit of 15 authors.
  • For authors DO NOT USE as a surname: Filho, Sobrinho, Neto, or Junior. Use for example: Carvalho-Júnior, Silva Neto JA.
  • Affiliation must come just after the authors' names, listed in the following order: University Acronyms (for national universities; for foreign universities use complete name), Campus (optional), Faculty, Dept (optional), Lab. (optional), Post Graduation Program and Country.

Formatting Rules

DO NOT include tables or figures. DO NOT underline, italicize (except for scientific names), or embolden any word. Projects will not be accepted.

Abbreviations

Use standard abbreviations for units of measure. Other abbreviations should be spelled out in full at first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. Exceptions: cAMP, EGTA, DNA, RNA etc.

Ethics and Financial Support

When applicable, approval by Human or Animal Research Ethical Committee and the financial support MUST be indicated. The absence of both information will not allow the abstract submission to be completed. In case of any doubt, contact SBFTE secretariat (sbfte@sbfte.org.br).

Online Abstract Submission

  • Abstracts should be submitted electronically from April 01st to May 26th, 2026 (11:59 pm BRT).
  • Only Abstracts in English will be accepted.
  • Only ONE abstract per registration (author or coauthor) will be accepted.
  • All submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the Abstract Evaluation Committee.
  • By default, all approved abstracts will be considered for a poster presentation.
  • If you are an Undergraduate or Graduate Student (Master or Doctoral Degree): Indicate during online abstract submission your preference to be considered for an Oral Communication. The Oral Communication must be in English.
  • Graduate Student (Master or Doctoral Degree) or a trainee that has received the doctoral degree on or after January 1, 2026 may indicate, during online abstract submission, your preference for considering your abstract for the Jose Ribeiro do Valle Award (JRV). See rules for JRV Award.
Oral Communication

Will be selected by the Coordinator of the Symposium from the submitted abstracts. Only first authors are allowed to deliver the Oral Communication.

Attention

After abstract submission, no alteration of the title and author's names will be allowed.

Introduction (shortly indicate the background and rationale of the study). Objectives (indicate the purpose of the study or the hypothesis that was tested). Methods (in this field, the researcher should specify exactly what was done experimentally and what experimental techniques he used, and the type of statistical analysis; if references are needed, they should be given in the text). Results (present as clearly as possible the outcome of the study and statistical significance if appropriate). Conclusion (briefly discuss the data and emphasize the significance of the results). Financial Support Information. Human or Animal Research Ethical Committee Number (when applicable). Acknowledgments should be allocated at the end of the abstract.
